I park my car near Sluis 0 in the city of s’-Hertogenbosch. Take a parking ticket for an hour and walk to the Art Loan which is located right at the lock in the Zuid-Willemsvaart. The sun is shining and there is a light breeze. I look at the stately white building and look curiously in the shop window. What does such an art library have in store?
To my satisfaction I notice one of my own works! With yellow and purple surfaces and an apparent red S it is perky to show off in all kinds of other works in the shop window. Waiting for someone who wants to take it home to hang up. I smile as if I am greeting the work and the work recognizes me.
Then I walk around the corner to the open door. I feel welcome. Inside, the manager focuses on her reading book and looks at me lightly. ‘Good afternoon’, it sounds. I greet back and introduce myself as one of the artists in their collection. There is not really a sign of recognition. I had not registered with her, but with a man. Anyway, good too. “Just look around, it’s like a museum here!” She says laughing. I look for my other two paintings myself.
Between dozens of artworks of mostly regional artists. Here and there hang and stand paintings and sculptures. All styles and media mixed together. There is a work of mine with yellow and red colors on the floor in one of the rooms of the building. Another is somewhat hidden behind other works. There are beautiful pieces! What creativity from so many artists. I tend to take something home, but the house is already full of art.
I have seen enough. The works are well managed. It is now only waiting for interest. The manager waves me when I wish her success.
